Just got done listening to this. I always have some music that I haven’t heard queued up in one place or another. Anyhow, I liked this enough to share. It’s off of Jakob’s newest lp Sines.

I actually opened up last week’s show with this one, and this is really just an excuse to post the live video below. My favorite comment on the YouTube link is:
“I talked to John Kunz, owner of Waterloo and co-founder of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores and all he said about this was ‘They caused a lot of damage.'”
Sorry, John. Waterloo Records’ web site can be found here if you feel helping reimbursing him for the band’s theatrics. Regardless, the show looks like it was entertaining as hell.
Leeds’ Hookworms just announced The Hum, their follow up to last year’s Pearl Mystic. If you’re a fan of Destruction Unit/Disappears/Cryptograms-era Deerhunter/etc…, you should really get on this.
A little change up here. You can listen to the Saturday Light Brigade every, well, Saturday on WRCT. This past weekend, an old friend of mine was on the show. Check it out.
Vashti is gearing up to release Heartleap, only her third album in nearly forty years. “Train Song” is a little bit older, originally released as a single in 1966.
Since I can’t compete with the absurdity/epicness of being attacked by a bear, I’ll direct you over to the always-spot-on Aquarium Drunkard blog, where they just posted this mixtape. They describe it as, “a choice selection of primitive sixties garage rock. Our second collaboration with Gothenburg, Sweden DJ/record collector Peer Schouten.” The whole thing can be found here:
Something for a Friday.
A song of the day! Hurray!
Death from Above 1979 yesterday, and Interpol today. I wouldn’t hold it against you if you thought you’d traveled back to the turn of the century, but here we are in 2014 and both bands seem to be firing on all cylinders. Between “Ancient Ways” and the previously previewed “All the Rage Back Home”, Interpol actually sounds like Interpol again. El Pintor is out through Matador Records on September 9th.
In lieue of a single song of the day, how about some Polvo Peel Sessioning it?
