All posts for the month July, 2014

Jim played this on the show Sunday, and now I’m unashamedly stealing it for my song of the day since it’s been stuck in my head ever since. Man, does this chorus hit hard.

I keep forgetting to check into the Adult Swim singles, which overall are just great.  Anyhow, speedy ortiz was on the list last week.  Pretty much what you’d expect.  Likable and socially comfortable in awkward situations.  You can download the single here.

New tuneage from LVL Up and wow it’s anthemic.  Break out the water pistols! This is from their upcoming album.  But note that they will be in Pittsburgh on August 22nd at the People’s Warehouse.

School of Doodle

Brought to you by the likes of Kim Gordon, Chan Marshall, J.D. Samson of Le Tigre/MEN, Marina Abramović, John Baldessari, and so many other similarly inspiring figures.  It’s a great idea with the kind of backing a project like this needs not only to get funded, to hopefully succeed.

As sure as the sun comes up every morning, Tim Presley has released another album full of 60’s-influenced psych music. For the Recently Found Innocent was produced by Ty Segall, but any worries that Presley would abandon some of his jangle in favor of his frequent collaborator’s snarl seem to have been unfounded.
