Music

From the Hysterics last show.  It’s super sad to see them go.  The sound isn’t great on this, but it’s the fuckin Hysterics!

Here is an older live video with better sound.  For proper Hysterics flavor.

Apologies to Buffalo Tooth for me posting this the same day the new Sleater Kinney song sees release.

I have NO IDEA how I missed this.  but Sleater-Kinney has a new album coming out in January.  And they posted a new song on the internets.  And i’m all like wtf.  How did I miss this!!!

Here is that new song.  They are playing in Pittsburgh on March 1. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

I could stretch and make the claim that this is vaguely music related, since Interpol’s Paul Banks is one of the guests on this episode of Scott Aukerman’s Comedy Bang Bang podcast, but the real reason I’m posting it is Horatio Sanz, of SNL fame. He makes me laugh out loud to myself at least a half dozen times over the course of his appearance. He shows up (as Aaron Neville) around the 36 minute mark, though a “sound proofer” who sounds suspiciously like Sanz makes a brief appearance around 22 minutes in, too.

Never heard of these folks before, but enjoy this classic sounding rock ‘n roll from Philly. I found this via the Big Ups.  Silly rabbit hole.

The VSS is one of those bands I’ve always sort of been aware of (mostly owing to my year long Gravity Records kick in college), but never got around to listening to until recently, which turns out to be a real shame. In hindsight, it’s sort of embarrassing how many times I’ve listened to These Arms are Snakes and thought, “Man, I wish there were more bands that sound like this,” when The VSS seems like such an obvious influence on them. Better late than never, though, I suppose.
