Mecca Normal has a new album coming out. They posted a video of Super Valu Logo on their facebook page. And it’s super great. And it’s allegedly on the new album, though the press kit for the new album doesn’t support that. But while we solve that mystery, here is another song from the LP that I can embed.

I’ve seen Merchandise play live twice, once in a dingy club where they blew tourmates Milk Music off the stage and would’ve stolen the entire show if it weren’t for those pesky noiseniks in Destruction Unit, and again when I randomly stumbled into them playing around noontime in a Barcelona city park. As demonstrated in the video above, the band seem to spend their upcoming album splitting the difference between those two performances, one part sunshine and one part grey, as they follow their muse down a Cure-esque rabbit hole. After the End is out August 25th on 4AD.
Might as well retain the rain theme for the weekend. One of my all time favorite songs. And it’s a sufficiently goofy 80s style video.
Don’t worry bro, I know that everybody around you is making you feel mighty lonely be dry humping each other all day long, but at least you have your inflatable pet disco ball to keep you company. This is off a single that SP is putting out through Carpark on August 12th. Preorder it here.
Man, I feel like this video came out about 6 months too late, but at least they got around to making one eventually, I suppose.
Swoon.
Still one of my favorite videos a few years after it’s release, from an album that hit me at just the right time. It’s nearly impossible for me to watch this without my everpresent wanderlust kicking in hard, so it seemed like a good time of the year to share. Do yourself a favor and watch it on full screen. Then go plan an adventure with some friends.
Chugging noise rock from Atlanta’s Whores. I regretfully missed them when they played Pittsburgh a few months ago, so we’ll all just have to live vicariously through this video of the band burning through the song live:
Taken from the duo’s (?) upcoming LP Complete Surrender, due out in a few weeks. RIYL cinematic chamber pop a la Camera Obscura.
