I really like the band name. And the art for this album. But mostly, I dig the tune. Even the song title has appeal though.

From last year’s Sonic Bloom, which is still getting heavy play on my iPod. The entire second half of the album crushes, but it all comes to a head on closer “The New World”. Best experienced live, if you get the chance.

People tend to lump Codeine in with the slowcore movement, but I always thought they came off a lot more sinister than Low and their ilk. Exhibit A is “Cigarette Machine” off of Frigid Stars, which wouldn’t sound out of place on Spiderland or some of the other stuff coming out of Louisville at the time.
I played this song from Pins on the radio show Sunday night. This here, is an acoustic version. Which sounds very different. Unfortunately comes with an ad. Youtube eats my soul sometimes.
There are songs you can’t play on the radio but that are extra-ordinarly awesome and should be heard. Slumlord Sal fits the bill.
Here’s some Sunday afternoon interstellar radio gospel for you.
Sunday casual listening.
