Swift begins “The Bully” with an emphatic “hey buddy…” and ends it two and a half minutes later with a like-minded “…jackass”, and never lets up in between. One of my favorite songs by the producer and touring member of both The Black Keys and The Shins.

Damn if I don’t just love this. I keep thinking I should listen to the lyrics more closely, but I gather that it’s not stupid anti-sex stuff. The label is out of hard copies of the cassette, but there are other potential sources.
I can’t tell you how many aimless strolls through random Balkan towns were soundtracked by Air France’s No Way Down EP a few years ago. This song was their masterpiece. RIP.
From a great split 7″ with Two Inch Astronaut. The 7″ is still available for those who like those things.
Love this band and their big sound. Brand new track from their forthcoming third LP. They are also touring this year, but skipping Pittsburgh of course. Which is lame. But I suppose i’ll share this anyway.
I watched “The Punk Singer” over the weekend (you should do the same), and thus have spent the last few days reacquainting myself with Miss Hanna’s artistic output. I can’t play this one on the radio, so it made sense to throw it up as my song of the day instead.
Stairway to Heaven backwards and split into quarter notes and then put back into proper forwardness. Via WFMU.
I like this tune with it’s rough Pogue-esque tendencies. They’ve got an album, a 7″ series, and apparently a rock opera on the table these days. That’s quite ambitious.
