It’s about 12:45 and I just realized I forgot to schedule a post for today, so I’ll just remind you to check out the documentary Pitchfork recently released on Slowdive’s seminal album. For all of their clickbait and endless shilling for their YouTube channel, Pitchfork can still do some cool things when they feel like it.

You can check it out right here.

When I describe Widowspeak’s music as “pleasant”, I worry it might come off as condescending, but I assure you I mean it in the best way possible. Their new LP, All Yours, is out 9/4 on their longtime home, Capture Tracks.
Oh, what’s that you say? You demand even more new Widowspeak music? Settle down, you weirdo, and listen to this:

A little “behind the scenes at the Radio Shower” for you today: I’ve got a bookmark folder full of songs I wanna put up on the blog, and it’s stuffed pretty full right now. Because of that, there’s times I don’t get around to posting “new” songs til a week or two after I actually hear em. But when a new Destruction Unit jam get released, alongside an album announcement? Straight to the front of the goddamned line! It appears if Negative Feedback Resistor takes another big step forward in capturing the energy of the band’s so-loud-you’ll-puke live shows, or gets about as close one could hope. Need another reason to be excited? It features appearances by Alex Zhang (he of Dirty Beaches fame) and Don Bolles (he drummed for the friggin’ Germs). Out 9/18

For every band that can pull off the American Football/American Analog Set type of glistening guitar pop, there are thousands, THOUSANDS, that make an absolute mess of it. I think Beach Moon/Peach Moon do the sound all sorts of justice, though, and I bet you’d agree.

Since I can only assume you ran out and got your hands on Girls Names’ “Zero Triptych” single after I posted about it a few months ago, it’s only fair I tell you about their follow up. “Reticence” starts off like an air raid siren, then settles into a Smiths/New Order groove. It’s the first single off of the band’s Arms Around A Vision LP, out 10/2 through Tough Love.

If you’ve been listening to the show with any regularity for the past few months, you’re probably aware of my newfound obsession with drone-psychers Flying Saucer Attack. How convenient, then, that David Pearce just announced the first FSA in fifteen years will be coming out on Drag City and Domino Records on July 17th.
