Was checking out some of the bands on the Blackest Ever Black label. I found a few good ones (as you’ll notice over the next few weeks), but this is my favorite this far. Raspberry Bulbs = Steelpole Bathtub with even more creepiness. So while this song is called “Light Surrounds Me” I assume the lyrics are about how they are darkness or some such.

From a new EP by Rat Columns which is basically David West’s solo thing. Not surprisingly great.

This is great indie psych rock. These folks apparently hail from some fortified municipality in the Netherlands.

I think I found this via Comedy Minus One. Anyhow, Eleventh Dream Day bringing the catchy rock’n roll. I’ve been sitting on this one to post for a while.

This is great political post-punk from Cardiff. I’d say Fugazi was a big influence on these folks and they do it well enough. They’ve got the guitars, the start and stop, and the politics. It’s all there.

I posted a single from Swings back in September. Their new album is out on Exploding in Sound Records. Here is another tune from the new album. I’ve only given the album a skim so far. My impressions are a bit more mixed than my anticipation so we’ll see. But this song is quite good.

So, it’s the fundraising time of year. You may not know about Rate Your Music. I’ve been using it to catalog my record collection. If you are looking for a place to catalogue your music or track more obscure stuff it’s a great site. And they have an Indiegogo campaign right now to ramp up features and expand their coverage of movies and build a video games site too. Check it out.

And because this is a music blog. This is really great indie pop. I’ve posted Tuff Love before. A hint of Grass Widow meets maybe Sebadoh(?). This song anyhow. Really like their tuff stuff.

Well I’ve been quiet. Just life and stuff gets busy. But it also means I have a long list of potentially great songs to post. That is if I can filter through the wave of various e-mails and notes that I have. Bandcamp isn’t helping with all of their “xxx is offering 25% off their entire discography” e-mails. Which is cool and all. Just a lot of e-mails all saying the same thing.

Anyhow, reaching back into the mid 90s because it was a good time for good music.
