This song captures what I love about battle ave.
You’re watching the most stereotypical 80’s action movie imaginable. The two heroes, Donnie and Taylor, just captured the bad guy, and they’re back on their houseboat reminiscing about the case they just closed. The police chief calls to congratulate them on a job well done. Donnie responds with his token catchphrase, “Well, Cap, these suit jackets don’t pay for themselves!” Everybody laughs uncontrollably. Donnie and Taylor high five. Fade to black, and this is the song that plays over the credits.
some black lips.
Who needs to reinvent the wheel when it got you exactly where you needed to be in the first place?
It took me a couple of songs to get into this, but I’m really enjoying it from that point on. Reminds me a lot of Rainer Maria.
A bit of an all star band here. Via Brooklyn Vegan:
No Chief is Sebadoh/Fiery Furnaces drummer Bob D’Amico new band. The songs are his, but he brings in a load of help, including his Sebadoh bandmate Jason Loewenstein, his Fiery Furnaces bandmate Matthew Friedberger, and Versus’ James Baluyut. On the two tracks that are up on No Chief’s bandcamp, Petra Haden (That Dog, The Decemberists) sings lead. You can listen to both of those below.
Check it out.
