Today, I’d like to call your attention to the consistently wonderful Aquarium Drunkard blog, where they just posted a pair of covers by Benjamin Booker. While his take on Furry Lewis’s “Falling Down Blues” is very well done, it’s the latter of the two tracks, a live take on the Otis Redding and the Pinetoppers’ classic, that’s had me hitting play repeatedly for the past few days.

Both songs can be found here, and if either catch your ear, you’d also be well served to take a listen to AD’s recently posted fall mixtape, which is right here. Really, just make a mental note to check the site daily, as very few days go by without a quality post or two.

No, you dont need to adjust your computer’s speakers. It takes a few seconds for “Vision’s” to come into focus, but once it does, Absolutely Free’s krauty take on The Verve-esque Britpop doesn’t stop pushing for the song’s entire five minute run time.

It’s the beginning of autumn, which means all I’ve really been interested in listening to and playing is shoegaze and pensive, melancholy indie rock like this. Sharks Keep Moving were a bit of a reverse supergroup of sorts, in that members went on to form bands like Minus the Bear, The Blood Brothers, and Pretty Girls Make Graves, among countless others, after they called it quits. Definitely worth looking into for fans of stuff like American Football, The American Analog Set, and even early Minus the Bear.
As with most music, noisy Medicine is the best Medicine. “Move Along…” starts off pedal to the metal, and stays there until about halfway through, where the song settles into a nice psychy groove without sacrificing any volume. Everything I’ve heard off of the trio’s upcoming album Home Everywhere has recalled the band at its Buried Life-best.

Holy shit, love this.  The whole compilation this comes from is amazing.  Noticed it because the Downtown Boys posted about it.  So glad that they did.

I’ve always maintained a slight interest in JtB because of their past lives spent in Be Your Own Pet, but if I’m being honest, nothing they’ve done has really clicked with me yet. There’s a good chance that will change soon, as they prepare to release Dig the Classics, a covers EP, at the end of this month. Besides My Bloody Valentine, the duo give the Brotherhood treatment to Beck, Teenage Fanclub, The Pixies, The Wipers, and Colleen Green. Should be interesting if nothing else.

Yesterday I posted some new Krill.  That was on a split 7″ from double double whammy.  Then I saw this from Mitksi. And it’s good.
