Music

This entire EP is an extended take on the closing track of Woodsman’s self-titled LP that was released earlier this year, and the whole thing shimmers and slowly morphs over it’s half hour run time. I suspect this is good driving music, a theory I’m sure I’ll test quite soon.

I was looking at a list of lesser known bands playing Riot Fest Chicago.  I like several but this is probably the only one on the list that really stuck out to me.  I also seem to have lost the list or i’d link it.  Sorry whomever wrote that article.  I’m sure you are wonderful and deserve the link.

Oh, and hey look, this was just in my twitter feed this morning,  A new song from Pity Sex.  I can’t seem to get an embeddable version of that.

I’ve been listening to Kelley Stoltz’s lovely Double Exposure the past few days, clinging desperately to the last few vestiges of summer. Here’s his ode to his favorite food truck.

Sometimes, with music, I end up going down the rabbit hole.  The other day I posted a track from a new 7″ by Quemada Records.  I decided to pick up the 7″ and placed an order with them.  Via that order I found this 7″ from another label.  Another fantastic song.  And creepy as hell video.  Fantastic stuff. I don’t know where that footage is from but i’m now curious.

An extremely relevant SOTD today, as our band will be playing this upcoming Saturday, 9PM at Hambones in Lawrenceville. First show in a few months, so come help us shake off the dust and have a good time (read: buy us beer, or buy yourself enough beer that you’ll enjoy whatever show we wind up putting on). Hiss Golden Messenger’s Lateness of Dancers is out today on Merge Records.
Peals make some laid back, sometimes warm/sometimes electronic music that falls closer to The Books than The Clientele on the easy-listening psych spectrum. Here they are playing “Floating Leaf”, from last year’s Walking Field, a song so relaxing you’d never guess that this project is how they fill time between their day jobs playing in Future Islands and Double Dagger.
