Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is a Daytrotter Session from Woodsman. They are listed as post rock or psychedelic rock or Neo-Psychedelia. I went in with low expectations but those genre tags intrigue me.

Post rock is most apt I think for these three songs. Though I do see the psychedelic tinge. It’s actually pretty good. I had low expectations for whatever reason but not bad at all.

Rating: 9.0

Favorite Track(s): “Healthy Life” most caught my attention.

Keep or Trash: Keep.

This Daytrotter Session can be streamed at this link. It dates from February 3, 2014.

There was a week or two earlier this year where Woodsman’s S/T album was about the only thing I listened to, so it’s no surprise that I love this unreleased track that was recorded in those same sessions.

This entire EP is an extended take on the closing track of Woodsman’s self-titled LP that was released earlier this year, and the whole thing shimmers and slowly morphs over it’s half hour run time. I suspect this is good driving music, a theory I’m sure I’ll test quite soon.
