What? New Bikini Kill? Well, yeah basically. Bikini Kill is re-releasing their album Revolution Girl Style Now! and it will include a couple of previously unreleased songs. Ocean Song being one of them. So watch the re-release teaser and listen to Ocean Song and then pre-order the record at bikinikill.com.

Girl Band’s upcoming album Holding Hands with Jamie is shaping up to be a real banger. Everything I’ve heard so far sounds like early Health run through a Jesus Lizard filter. It’s out 9/25 on Rough Trade.

I concede i’m a huge Air Waves fan. I posted the previous single for their long awaited upcoming release (due out in September). Here is a video for the song Fantasy. The lp can be pre-ordered via Western Vinyl.

I still believe that the Kevin Parker-featuring “Daffodils” off of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Special (maybe you’ve heard of it?) is a fantastic song. I’ve also long maintained that Foals are still a great band, even as they get more polished in their journey away from Antidotes. So how convenient it is that the band offered up their take on the song during a recent stop at Triple J.
On the subject of live music, Thomas Watkiss will be in the studio tonight, playing live and blowing minds. Tune in at 9PM, www.wrct.org.

Oh hey, time to post another track. Found this one a couple of weeks back. Appropriate, semi-ambient weirdness with some actual vocals. It’s really quite wonderful. And they are on tour too.

I know the title says “Matt Annoys Jim”, but I’d really like to pretend I’m doing him a favor by cramming all of these songs into one post instead of spreading them out over the course of a few days. I’m nothing if not the ultimate compromiser. After the jump, a few more songs that have me tapping my feet, and will most likely have another certain poster to the blog rolling his eyes…

The Neon Indian song at the top of the post is off of Vega Intl. Night School, out 10/16 on Mom + Pop.

 – Off of Knockin’ Boots, out now on Broadwalk.

 – Off of the upcoming Easy Life EP.

 – Finally, a video for a tune I already posted about a few weeks back. Product 3 is out 10/23 on Anti.
Deerhunter just announced a new album, Fading Frontier, that’ll be out 10/16 on 4AD. I don’t think I need to tell you how excited this makes me. Along with the usual Deerhunter awesomeness, this one features contributions from Broadcast’s James Cargill and Stereolab’s Tim Gane.
The first single from Fading Frontier is “Snakeskin”, which builds on the back of a skittery, damn near danceable rhythm. The chord progressions and outro are still noticeably Deerhunter, though, and now the countdown to October officially begins.
I’m writing up this post on Saturday morning, so I’m working under the assumption that I’ll enjoy the Beach House show tonight at Mr. Smalls as much as I expect to. So to (preemptively) celebrate, here’s a little something La Blogotheque filmed around the release of 2010’s Teen Dream.
