Drone on, Thurston. Drone on. For those of you keeping track, Moore’s backing band includes both Steve Shelly (also of SY fame) and MBV’s Debbie Googe. Plus, you know, Thurston fucking Moore. I’m assuming “Forevermore” will be on Moore’s upcoming solo effort, The Best Day, out 10/21 on Matador Records.

The Gotobeds have a new album.  And apparently it’s on NPR’s first listen page.  How does one get on there?  That’s pretty cool.  Here is a video/song to go along with this cool fact.

Since I can’t compete with the absurdity/epicness of being attacked by a bear, I’ll direct you over to the always-spot-on Aquarium Drunkard blog, where they just posted this mixtape. They describe it as, “a choice selection of primitive sixties garage rock. Our second collaboration with Gothenburg, Sweden DJ/record collector Peer Schouten.” The whole thing can be found here:

A couple of days ago, a friend of mine in Virginia got into a bit of a tussle with a bear. Apparently, it took a long time to stitch him up and his dog Henry went through some substantial surgery, but they are both going to be ok is what I hear.  Anyhow, the details are still coming in, but Steve is a big bear lover so I thought my song of the day would be Casey Neill’s bear in mind.  Right now the WV games department is hunting down the bear, which makes no sense.  It wasn’t rabid.  Just an unfortunate encounter and it moved to protect it’s cubs.  So far though, they have not found her.  Thankfully.  And yeah, I couldn’t find Bear in Mind online but I found this fun video.

Death from Above 1979 yesterday, and Interpol today. I wouldn’t hold it against you if you thought you’d traveled back to the turn of the century, but here we are in 2014 and both bands seem to be firing on all cylinders. Between “Ancient Ways” and the previously previewed “All the Rage Back Home”, Interpol actually sounds like Interpol again. El Pintor is out through Matador Records on September 9th.
