Matt held down the reigns last night while I was returning from camping. Can’t beat the Nation of Ulysses, Destruction Unit, and Cursive. Hope yinz enjoyed the show. We’ll be back next Sunday with a special guest to boot.

A good band from Brooklyn is shocking.
We are on the air. You can listen via 88.3 FM in Pittsburgh. You can stream via wrct.org. Show goes until midnight, US eastern time.
I highlighted the new LP from Conspiración Autista a couple of weeks back. But it’s always nice to see a band in it’s natural habitat. Radio show tonight. 9pm. I am out of town for personal reasons but Matt will be carrying the torch.
Matt Picks a Jim Song
All due respect to the rest of Jim’s songs this week, but the Disco Doom song that went up is absolutely wonderful.
If you’d prefer to do some navel-gazing instead, I’d recommend the Old Smokey post, which probably would’ve taken my top spot on a good majority of weeks.
Jim Picks a Matt Song
You can’t miss with Ezra Furman. I really liked New Fries. But who can argue with a pink shiny ultrablast? This song is quite large in substance. Really love the shoegazy aspects of it.
7″ Highlight – Moon By You
Some K-Records style psychadelic Doo-wop. It works. Read our post on the single here or listen below.
EP Highlight – Shady Hawkins
A bit of a classic rock touch, a bit of a punk touch, a band from Brooklyn. That about describes it. Check out the full post here or listen below.
LP Highlight – Town Portal
Some styling instrumental math rock from Copenhagen. Don’t be discouraged. This is really, really good. Read the full post here or listen below.
Sunday, August 2nd Radio Show Playlist
The show featured some new White Reaper, two bands named Slouch, and a classic from the Cure. Check out the full playlist here. And remember, you can always check out our playlists at WRCT’s website as well.
Something about Calvin Johnson in a big old house. I like this whole album. Maybe this kind of lo-fi is your thing too?
