Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is the Christian Television 7″ from Field Day. This is basically Post-Punk or Post-Rock I think. It has a bit of a punk edge but definitely has the elements of post-rock.

My only complaint is I wanted it to last longer. I really enjoyed this!

Rating: 9.6

Favorite Track(s): “The Fast” rips. Love the use of repetition in this with the over distorted guitar. “And Bi-Curious” is excellent. But “Barbie With Gun” is the best track.

Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is El Maestro Interior from Iván & los Terribles. This is a noise rock band from Uruguay! They also self-tag as Post-Punk and that fits.

Noise Rock is one of my favorite genres and Iván & los Terribles does not disappoint. This is good stuff. It’s rather basic rock ‘n roll in a lot of ways – but louder and more distorted. And just better!

This was a find I made when I did a Slow Radio Shower focused on Uruguay. I’m very happy with this find.

Rating: 9.7

Favorite Track(s): “Fiebre en Calbucco” has a haunting feel for it that is perfect for Halloween season. “O día que Neymar quebrou” is good with an almost 1950s rock influence. “Bios” could be a Yo La Tengo song to be honest. I like it! “Baltasar” brings back that haunting sound in a good way! It is louder and more aggressive and I really like it. Probably my favorite track thus far. “Zweig” brings in an 1980s sound. I love this too! So many twists on this album!

Keep or Trash: Keep. I went ahead and bought their one album that I didn’t have…

Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is Language of Threat EP from EULA. EULA falls somewhere between Indie Rock and Post Punk or Art Punk. This album in particular leans more towards the Post/Art Punk.

I really, really like this band. Why have I bot been listening to this more? They have a good amount of aggression mixed with melodic vocals – and often not melodic vocals. There are some great guitar riffs. And just overall enjoyableness.

Rating: 9.6

Favorite Track(s): “Housewolf” really is great. Great changes in tempo. Fantastic appropriate aggression at times. Interesting song structure. Things really flow into “Above the Weather” which is just a great song! “Fight Tiff” has a nice leaning angularity to it.

Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is Ourself Beside Me‘s Self-Titled Album. This is an Indie Rock band from China. They self tag as Noise Rock and Post-Punk and those labels fit here.

The intro I could do without but the album is excellent! The buried vocals are well placed. The overall sound is great. I listened twice…

Rating: 9.5

Favorite Track(s): “Sunday Girl” is just phenomenal. “Here I Come” gives me a Neo-psychedlic feel. “Someone’s Love Song” is perfectly angular. “Tuuuuuuuu” is soooo good. Reminds me of Olimpia Splendid. “Holiday” is a great instrumental. “Broken Heart Blues” brings a nice surf touch to this album.

Keep or Trash: Keep. This is delightful.

Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is a 7″ single from Egg Hunt. This band features Ian Mckaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi, etc…) and Jeff Nelson (Minor Threat and many other bands). And it’s a very solid single as you might expect. My wife also liked it a lot.

Rating: 9.5

Favorite Track(s): “Me and You” is primarily instrumental and as my wife says features a great baseline. “We All Fall Down” is very Fugazi-esque.

Keep or Trash: Keep. duh.

Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is another 7″ single. This one is “Hanging Out in Havana” and “Far Out” from What Tyrants. What Tyrants falls somewhere between garage punk and post punk. They are a trio from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

I really like this. The two songs sound similar but distinctly different in a good way. The music is tight and flows well. Very solid 7″ record.

Rating: 9.5

Favorite Track(s): “Hanging Out in Havana” borders on surfer garage punk. I like it. I think I like “Far Out” more with its more submerged sound.

Keep or Trash: Keep. Looking into picking up their LPs.
