Today’s Random Album of the Day is Numerals from Disco Doom. Disco Doom is considered Noise Pop or Indie Rock. On Rate Your Music it also gets tagged with Experimental Music and Alternative Rock. I’m not sure how experimental this album is though…
I thought I recalled liking this album. But I didn’t particularly care for it until half way through. It’s fine music at the start, just not music that I love. Things get interesting though when it gets louder. I swear I’m not just addicted to loudness. Honestly they are at their best when they engage their amps. Those are my opinions on it after one listen (the first in years) for what it is worth. It is possible I’m totally misjudging this album so maybe it needs more listens to fully assess. My mood can affect how I receive music so much.
Rating: 7.5
Favorite Track(s): “Rock Yeah” picks things up a bit. But “Love 77” gets better and then “Zonk” even better. “Dead Eye” is solid too. And “Shannon” is an example of slow excellence. I genuinely like “Rice & Bones”.
Keep or Trash: Keep. For now. It’s borderline honestly but we do have on vinyl so I figure give it more listens and see if my wife likes it more than I do. But if she doesn’t love it I may unload both the digital and vinyl.
