I had bought this back in 2008. Kind of a deep cut compared to some of the recent random albums. Rate Your Music also classifies Fields as Dream Pop and Shoegaze but I don’t see that with this album.
I tend to type as I listen. They start out with an almost psych pop sound. Very 1960s. But squarely Indie Rock too. Definitely not Dream Pop or Shoegaze to me. But then it turns a bit on “Sisters” and definitely sounds very indie rocky even more so – perhaps a bit indie pop. Then I feel the dream pop a bit on “Roll Down the Hill”. But really it sounds more 80s pop but not necessarily in a way that I like.
Rating: 7.0
Favorite Track(s): “Song for the fields” is interesting. It has a sort of 1960s psych rock sound. “Brittlesticks” is a catchy tune.
