Today’s random album of the day is Never Trust a Baby from Vulvette. Vulvette is a country singer from Missouri. I struggled to find the album online. It’s less modern country and more folk country so that’s good. The sound quality on the album is not good though. And I think this particular album would benefit from a better recording quality.
It is a good album I think. Some raw folk country mixed with different harmonies. It has a very bare, almost barren, sound. Acoustic guitar and vocals with vocal harmonizing here and there. Then there is some random electric guitar sounds on Everything Gets Broken and Lonesome Cowboy which I liked. My vegan ass even liked the Steak Dinner on a Saturday Night song. It was very old timey country. I’d rate the album higher probably with better sound although the low quality recording does fit the atmosphere of the music.
Rating: 6.5
Favorite Track: Everything Gets Broken or Song of the Esplanade
Keep or Trash: Keep I think. I like it enough.
I couldn’t find this album so here is another one from Vulvette which I have not listened to so it has not influenced my thoughts above. OK, after writing that I took a quick gander and it sounds very different. It is a totally different stage of their music and I like it less even if the sound quality is there this time. I’m just not that into country.

Every day, or nearly every day anyhow, I will randomly select an album from my collection of digital music, listen to it, and share it here. – Jayne
My wife and I are board gamers and we gamify nearly everything in life. This includes our music listening. We use a dice catapult to roll dice and then use the dice results to pick our vinyl listens. So why not do something similar for the blog?
