Today’s Random Album of the Day is Frankie Cosmos and the Emptiness with Love Rind. Frankie Cosmos is super prolific having put out nearly two dozen regular length albums plus EPs and such. Love Rind is early and came out in 2013. To put into perspective they put out like 14 releases in 2012 and 2013. A lot of these early releases are basically bedroom recordings. But you see quite early that they have incredible sense for song writing and melodies. So this isn’t a polished album in the traditional sense. But I love this kind of stuff.
This album is pretty typical of that era. It is primarily just Frankie and their guitar. Not every song is great, but there is so much in here that has catchy melodies with nice lo-fi aesthetics. And I love their ability to sing about just about anything. I believe “birthday song” and “dancing in the public eye” are reprised on Zentropy.
Rating: 9.0
Favorite Song: I loved “gross one” or “birthday song” but my favorite has always been “dancing in the public eye”. My wife loved “mr. monkey’s hypnosis hour”
Keep or Trash: Keep, I love Frankie Cosmos.

Every day, or nearly every day anyhow, I will randomly select an album from my collection of digital music, listen to it, and share it here. – Jayne
My wife and I are board gamers and we gamify nearly everything in life. This includes our music listening. We use a dice catapult to roll dice and then use the dice results to pick our vinyl listens. So why not do something similar for the blog?
