METZ gonna METZ.
If I’m being honest, Keep Shelly in Athens haven’t really been able to hold my attention over the course of an entire album since their first few Forest Family releases. But they still know how to craft an atmosphere, and this new single hit me when I was in just the right mood. “Silent Rain” sounds like it could open up a very European low-budget Bond ripoff and set the mood perfectly.
The new Deerhunter album is the gift that keeps on giving. “Living My Life” is the third video the band has released off of Fading Frontier, joining “Snakeskin” and “Breaker”.
The Icarus Line never really did much to top 2004’s Penance Soiree (which was, like, abnormally great) but they did just put out a new LP, All Things Under Heaven. “Solar Plexus” carries a bit of a Stooges swagger, and now has been given this strange video accompaniment.
On the road so not much time to type something up about this… but it’s good. Real good.
You don’t need to make it too far into “1992” to guess where Beliefs take their influences from, but that doesn’t mean they can’t write a pretty damned good song anyways.
The guest list on the upcoming Dressy Bessy LP reads like a festival bill: members of REM, Wild Flag, Minders, Pylon, and The Polyphonic Spree… and that’s just the first three songs! “Lady Liberty” starts the album off right, with a tight slab of power pop done right.
Murals seem to have found just the right amount of nostalgia in their psychedelia, the kind that made The Clientele so revered but often inimitable. Let this one massage your brain for a few minutes.
After hearing the unfortunate news about Steve Mackay, it only seems right to put up an obnoxiously loud song with prominent screeching saxophone today.
