Hot Chip apply their deadpan funk to The Boss’ classic, and then segue into LCD Soundsystem’s “All My Friends” towards the end of the video, though the latter isn’t quite as much of a stretch for them.

What is possibly the single of the year gets the video (damn near a short film) it rightfully deserves.
Patrick Flegel made a name for himself when he was in Women, and while some of his former bandmates have followed Public Strain‘s natural trajectory as Viet Cong, Flegel seems to be taking a more fragile path as Cindy Lee (though you could say quite the opposite about Androgynous Mind, his other project). “Power and Possession” is an absolute gut punch.
These guys just signed to Merge, so I’d bet you’ll be hearing a lot more from them in the future.
A smooth operator, this one.
