Chicago’s Twin Peaks go full on Replacements for their new single, with just a dash of the Velvets thrown in for good measure.
Continuing with the Mazzy Star theme established yesterday, one of the lovable(?) idiots over in the Brooklyn Vegan comments section described this jam as “Mazzy Star meets Slowdive”, and I can’t say I disagree. The Black Ryder are touring the US with The Jesus and Mary Chain in May, so I doubt this will be the last you hear from the duo.
Old J is no stranger to the Mazzy Star classic, having previously covered it for a 7″ single. Here, he enlists Fred Armisen to play it on Late Night with Seth Meyers. It actually works quite well, considering the circumstances.
