Coast through the remainder of your Friday on some soul vibes, courtesy of Mr. Bridges.

The VSS is one of those bands I’ve always sort of been aware of (mostly owing to my year long Gravity Records kick in college), but never got around to listening to until recently, which turns out to be a real shame. In hindsight, it’s sort of embarrassing how many times I’ve listened to These Arms are Snakes and thought, “Man, I wish there were more bands that sound like this,” when The VSS seems like such an obvious influence on them. Better late than never, though, I suppose.
In keeping with yesterday’s theme, the opening track of Dune Rat’s self titled LP might not be very deep, maaaannnnn, but goddamn if it ain’t fun anyways.
Who needs subtlety when you can bash out anthems like this?

Before I get to the song, I should mention that this is the second time in the past few days I’ve pretty shameless lifted my song of the day from Revolt of the Apes, so please do pay them a visit. You won’t regret it.

As for “Rot Inside”, it carries a bit of the dark and effortlessly cool vibes that Crystal Stilts have been cruising on since their inception, with a bit more of a cinematic, worldly feel to it. It will be on 8, out October 13th on Moon Glyph Records.

70’s guitar influenced psych for the metalhead in your family.

No sugar-coating this one, as the new single from Yumi Zouma is a straight up pop-disco triumph. The “Alena” single is out now on Cascine Records.

Are you into driving, instrumental psych rock with an equal fervor as you’re into arboreal, highly-intelligent primates? Better sit down, then, cause I’ve got some news for you. All proceeds from Eternal Tapestry’s new LP Guru Overload are being passed on to the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. Finally, a way to safely combine your two favorite pastimes!
I played this on last weeks show, but the accompanying visuals make this a worthwhile repeat listen.
