Today’s Random Album of the Day is Gilded Stars and Zealous Hearts from Velocity Girl. Velocity Girl is somewhere between Indie Rock and Indie Pop – or both. I’ve been a fan since college which was a long time ago.

My wife says they sound like the Go-Gos. Which I guess I can see. They have this poppy sound but it also borders Shoegaze a bit and Indie Rock too. If it was any poppier I would probably not be a big fan. But it falls into a nice niche where it is. Not every song is a banger of course. But they are pretty consistently solid.

Favorite Track(s): “Nothing” really works for me. “Just Like That” is good jangly fun. “Go Coastal” is indie rock fun. “Zealous Heart” is more emo jangly goodness. I Liked “The Only Ones” too. I also liked “Formula 1 Throwaway”. I liked “One Word” too.
