Today’s Random Album of the Day is the Daytrotter Session from Yellow Ostrich. Yellow Ostrich are an Indie Rock/Pop Band that also gets the Slacker Rock tag. They are good. I like them, though am not crazy about their music. So it’s more of a like, than love situation. I don’t get “Slacker Rock” as a genre. I’ll have to read up on it more.

I think they are a solid Indie Rock band but they don’t stand out to me basically. They are clearly talented musicians so that’s not an issue. Anyhow, it is good music overall.

Rating: 8.0

Favorite Track(s): “Marathon Runner” works for me. It has a good angularity to it. “Whale” is catchy.

Keep or Trash: Keep. It was possibly Trash. I didn’t necessarily see myself ever seeking out this EP. But I started listening to their Mistress album and I do like their music. So I decided to keep. Maybe their studio album is just better than this Daytrotter but since I overall like them I’ll keep this as well.
