Florist put out a fantastic EP this year, and they’ve already got an LP lined up for next. “White Light Doorway” wouldn’t have sounded at all out of place on the all-too-short Holdly, so here’s hoping the upcoming The Birds Sang Outside is just as charming.

Nice to see that Parker and Co. have figured out how to pull of most of his studio tricks in a live setting.
There’s a lot going on here, mostly positive (I see you back there, Warren Moon). Casablanca’s droll vocals can still be charming in the right context, and it’s nice to see Beth play something besides “brooding frontwoman”. But the best thing here is the song itself, a cover of a one-off collaboration between Lydia Lunch and early Danish punks Sort Sol.
You might’ve heard me play this one on the radio show a few times, but now you can experience it in video form.
This synth hook will be stuck in my head for days, so might as well get it stuck in yours, too.
The perpetually underrated Pop. 1280 applies just the slightest electronic lacquer to their lurch. “Pyramids on Mars” is off the upcoming Paradie LP, their third for (no surprise here) Sacred Bones.
