Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is a Demo from G.L.O.S.S. which is some straight up queer trans hardcore – aka queercore. That’s right – the trans radical agenda is here!! haha.

This album is pretty great. I’m biased but I think it shreds and it’s super rad. It’s very short of course. Brings back memories of trying to do even part of my radio show with all hardcore. So hard with every song being so short. You’d be panic queueing albums just in time – or not in time.

Rating: 9.8

Favorite Track(s): I liked the whole demo honestly. “Lined Lips and Spiked Bats” is such a great title.

Keep or Trash: Keep.

Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is a Demos tape from Sweet Talk. This is a very short album coming in with 10 songs at 11 minutes. They are basically hardcore.

Songs range from 10 seconds to 90 seconds long. The Demo quality helps to blur the songs together a little. But overall it seems a solid demo tape to me. I’m no hardcore expert. But I enjoy it enough. The album never lets up until like the 8th song and that’s for three seconds. It drives hard and intense the whole way.

Rating: 8.0. Maybe higher with better sound quality.

Favorite Track(s): “Old Habits” really rocks. “All-Overs” kind of sounds the same but it’s good so that’s good? “June/July” is a solid tune. I imagine “Greenhouse” being lyrically interesting. Something about “Growing Down” really works for me as things slow down a little. I like the chaos of “Acid Reflux” and dare I say it’s appropriate?

Keep or Trash: Keep. It works for me.

The Random Album of the Day

Today’s Random Album of the Day is the Holes 7″ from Government Flu. They are a hardcore band from Poland that was active mostly during the 2010s.

I don’t have a lot of hardcore in my collection though I do like it. Most of the time I’m into the more artsy shit such as math rock or the more sentimental stuff such as twee pop. So I was a bit surprised to find not one but three 7″s and a full length album from Government Flu that I forgot I had.

I am no expert on hardcore, but this seems to be very solid. Very tight musicianship combined with hard hitting flows and obtuse vocals. It works well.

Rating: 8.5

Favorite Track(s): Shadows. I probably like the pace of this song the most. What can I say, I’m a slow moving chronic illness girl.

Keep or Trash: Keep. I may not listen to it much but it is good hardcore and worth keeping.
